I love working outdoors so naturally I spend a good chunk of time searching the web for information on garden machines and other tools such as garden edgers. I came across this question posted by “Sand Man” on Yahoo! Answers.

“What would be the best tool for garden edgers?”

With my interest aroused I clicked over to the web page from my news reader program. Unfortunately there were only two answers: a spade and Roundup. Disappointed, I closed the window and went back to my news reader.

While both answers that were given were good ones neither one worked well for me. I like to keep my sidewalks edged nicely and I have over 100 feet of sidewalk and driveway. A hand spade was not going to cut it for me.

I don’t like using Roundup either because I pride my lawn and garden on being 100% organic. I didn’t want to be edging my sidewalks with a chemical that will kill any plant it touches. One stray breeze and I would have dead, wilting plants all around me.

Now I was determined to find some good garden machines that could edge a sidewalk nicely. I browsed over to Google and did some searching around. After a few searches I came across a really nice guide to hedge trimmers and edgers.

I found that a power edger is the answer to my question. A power edger is a device with a vertical rotating blade, sort of like a lawn mower turned on it’s side.

The best part about the power garden edger is that it will allow me to edge all my sidewalks and driveway in a fraction of the time that it would have taken me with a hand spade or shears and I don’t use to use noxious chemicals to achieve the same effect.

So I was out mowing my lawn the other day when all of a sudden the engine in my lawn mower stopped running. Now I don’t know much of anything about garden machines so I thought I was in for another pricey repair bill. (Last week the lawn mower blade just fell off my lawn mower while I was mowing… yes that’s right - fell right off!).

As anyone who has seen the price of gas lately can appreciate how tight money is getting to be and paying out a few hundred dollars to have my engine fixed was out of the question. So the way I saw it I had two options: either fix the lawn mower myself or finish cutting the lawn with a pair of scissors.

At that time I didn’t know anything about fixing garden machines so I thought I was in for a day of scraping knuckles and cursing at inanimate objects. I took a break and went in the house to collect myself.

While I was sitting at my computer pondering what to do I had the realization that I should check Amazon.com for any small engine repair books. I did and I found this book here about repairing garden machines. After reading the description and reviews I hiked down to my local library and checked it out.

About an hour and a half later my lawnmower was running as good as new. This book will save anyone who works with any kind of outdoor power tools a lot of time, money and even skin. I’ve long since ordered my own copy of this book which I use almost every summer.

So here is what I want you to do. I want you to save headaches and money by getting your very own copy of your book here. Once you get your copy and read it, I want you to come back here and tell me how this book worked for you.
